About The Project
From Franchise Burnout to a Business of His Own: Building the Artz Pest Brand From Scratch
After years working within a pest control franchise, Corey Artz had seen enough: high franchise fees and little support in return, with none of the reward of building something his own. Alongside his wife Haley, he decided to break away and start his own business, bringing his hands-on experience to the Gold Coast and Brisbane, with a service area stretching all the way up to Kippa-Ring to help me personally with my pest control needs. The only problem was, Corey and Haley had never built a business from the ground up before, and didn’t even have a name to start with.
The Challenge
Starting With Nothing, Not Even a Name
Haley and Corey came to us with a strong work ethic and not much else. A few business name ideas had been floated, but many were already in use by other local pest control companies, names that would have made it hard to stand out in search results or in the minds of past customers. They’d also had a logo drafted elsewhere, but the colours clashed and it didn’t feel professional enough to put in front of new customers. They knew they wanted orange and blue, a nod to Corey’s Dutch heritage, but didn’t know how to turn that into something that actually looked sharp. On top of the branding, they had no website, no business email, and no Google Business Profile, every piece of the digital foundation a new business needs was still missing.
The Solution
Building a Brand From the Ground Up, One Piece at a Time
We started by helping Haley and Corey land on a name they could actually own. Rather than inventing something new that would blend in with the many similarly-named pest controllers already out there, we pointed them toward their strongest existing asset: Corey’s own reputation in the industry. Building the brand around the Artz name meant instant recognisability to anyone who already knew his work, and a clean break from the generic, interchangeable names used by competitors.
From there, we tackled the logo. We kept the orange and blue direction that mattered to Corey, adjusting the tones so the palette looked professional and cohesive rather than clashing, while still carrying the meaning behind it. With a name and a logo locked in, we built out the full foundation a growing business needs:
- A Name That Stands Out: Helping Haley and Corey choose Artz Pest over names already shared by competitors, turning Corey’s personal reputation into a genuine business asset.
- A Termite-Tough Logo: A refined orange and blue mark that nods to Corey’s heritage while looking sharp enough to put on a van, a uniform, or a business card.
- A Small, Easy-to-Navigate Website: Built to introduce Haley and Corey, showcase the full range of services (from general pest treatments and termite inspections to possum removal and beehive extraction), and share helpful pest control tips through a built-in blog.
- Business Email Setup: Giving Artz Pest a professional email address to match the new brand.
- Google Business Profile: Setting up and optimising their listing so local customers searching for pest control could find them, see reviews, and get in touch straight away.
The Results
A Complete Brand, Ready to Launch
What started with no name, no logo, and no online presence became a complete, professional foundation for a brand-new business. With a name that reflects Corey’s own reputation, a cohesive identity, a working website, and the digital groundwork in place since launching in 2024, Haley and Corey had everything they needed to step out from under the franchise model and build something that was finally, fully their own.
We have worked with Jess at Robico Web Solutions since the very start of our business, and I genuinely couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
From the start Jess helped to bring our ideas to life, from working through the business name, colours and style we wanted, then creating a logo that really represented us – with several different options presented and lots of consultation to get it just how we wanted it. We then received a whole folder of different logo formats for all our requirements.
Next came our website, our email set up and helping us navigate all the things that come with starting a new business. Having someone we could turn to who knew what they were doing made all the difference. I really had no idea where to start and we were guided through every part of the website build to create something we are very proud of.
Jess still manages everything for us and is always there when we need her. If an issue comes up she responds quickly, gets it sorted and takes all the stress out of it for us.
Jess has been a constant source of support throughout the growth of our business and its amazing knowing we have someone who will always answer my questions (in her words there are no silly questions) and who genuinely cares about us.
I couldn’t recommend Jess and Robico Web Solutions highly enough. We are incredibly grateful that we chose them at the beginning and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone at all – starting out or looking for more support – this is the team you want to work with.
